Athlone Cooling Towers Demolition – So the Athlone towers are no more and youtube is awash with videos of various angles of the towers dropping to the ground. Many people were caught off guard with the early detonation ourselves excluded (only just!).
Many thanks to Rob Nicholls from Wishbones for sorting us out with a press pass for the Pinelands viewing site. Its always great shooting with friends especially if it means you get two different shots of a once off occasion!
Glad we did it though just for the experience alone. There where a few thousand people watching despite wind and rain. At one point someone had lost a cell phone which was handed straight in to the organizers and returned to its owner! Makes you happy to be South African!
