Behind the Scenes – iKraal was recently asked to film the making of a French commercial in South Africa. Cape Town based production company Lobster Tree and french client Charal spent four days on Lindbergh, a private game reserve outside Johannesburg, and a day at the Steenbras dam just outside Cape Town.
The commercial stared two cheetahs, three ostriches, and four wolf-dogs, so the creative team decided on the RED camera to capture the tricky shots required. iKraal used Sony’s PMW-EX3 to document behind the scenes as this easily portable yet powerful camera also has the ability for lens change. Canon’s SLR 18-250 lens came in handy on the reserve for those depth of field and long shots.
On a whole the animals behaved well and the production ran smoothly with no one being eaten on set. Charal was pleased with how all the companies involved facilitated production and iKraal was there to get the shots.
